Site of a frontier trading post; a War of 1812 British fort; the Battle of Negro Fort (7.27.1816) during the First Seminole War; and Confederate fort during the American Civil War. Remnants of the Irvington—a steamboat that sank in the Apalachicola River, in 1838—were dredged from the river about 4 miles upstream and have been moved to the park site.
